Southern Satisfaction

Searching for Southern satisfaction?
Look no further than Brick Street Cafe. Combining serendipity style with country charm, this quaint cafe is the epitome of delightful homegrown comfort food.

My Ultimate Grilled Cheese
(Melted cheddar and mozzarella cheeses with bacon and green onions on a Kaiser roll served with sweet potato fries- Oh yea!)

Located just seconds from Fluor Field, this little cafe is cute as it can be. It has the charm of a corner coffee shop mixed with grandma's kitchen, making it a delightful little gem everyone can enjoy. The atmosphere is so bright and cheery, the service is excellent, and the food is to die for.
I went for the lunch menu and enjoyed the most amazing little appetizer along with my epic grilled cheese. Well, i shoudn't say "little." We ordered the Baked Brie plate, which could definitely be served as a meal on its own. But, we did it as an appetizer and shared. This dish was so good!! It was a warm serving of brie covered in a almond caramel sauce, and served with apple slices, grapes, and crackers.Oh! my mouth is watering just thinking about it :)

Now, don't get me started on the desserts. I have never seen cake slices so big! We took these to-go because we were already so stuffed, we could barely move. We got the "Best Chocolate Cake I Ever Had" and it definitely lived up to its name. Also, we tried the 24 Karat Cake, whose cream cheese icing was "finger lickin' good.)
They have so many options, and that was just the lunch menu. I can't wait to go back and check out what they have in store for dinner!

Falling in Love with Fall for Greenville

Fall for Greenville

Straying a bit from the regular restaurant review, I wanted to post about my food adventure at Fall for Greenville. It lasted from October 11-13, and I was lucky enough to attend Saturday night and Sunday afternoon. It was so much fun! The music, food, and people  were so exciting and enjoyable.

There were 42 restaurants represented and 55 artists performing. They made sure that the jam packed options for delicious foods and amazing entertainment left little to be desired.

As far as entertainment goes, out of the very few I saw (considering there were so many) my favorites were the "Swingin' Richards, a local acoustic cover act, and Linda "Chocolate Thunder" Rodney, who can best be described as a "soulful explosion."

Unfortunately, I only sampled from 4 different vendors, barely scratching the surface of all the good food being served.

Here is a list of what I did try and thoroughly enjoyed:
  • Passerelle Bistro- smoked salmon and potato croquettes
  • Luna Rosa Gelato Cafe- chocolate velvet gelato
  • Coffee Underground- pumpkin cheesecake
  • The Chocolate Moose- red velvet mini cupcake

Can you tell I have a sweet tooth?
Needless to say, it was a blast! Great food, great fun, and great entertainment for the whole family! If it's not something you've done before, be sure to put it on your calendar for next year.
You won't regret it:)

I couldn't get enough of this red velvet cupcake from Chocolate Moose!

Malaysian Invasion

Would you like to try a new and different Asian dining experience?
Yap! is an exciting new take on the traditional sweet and sour chicken and egg roll options.
Stationed right in the middle of Downtown Greenville, this new Malaysian American restaurant offers a variety of options from garlic ginger trout to miso chicken soba.

They offer a dual menu with one portion consisting of American dishes with steak and seafood options, and a southeast Asian side consisting of different rice and noodle options.
Be forewarned though, Yap! is not for the faint of heart. True to authentic Malaysian dishes, nothing is made without a spicy little kick to it. Prepare to have your taste buds sizzling satisfaction!

I can't rave enough about the wonderful service. Our waitress was super attentive, answering all our curious questions-and yes, there were a lot :).
I ordered the Malay sweet and sour chicken, and was pleasantly surprised. See, I'm not a huge fan of white rice, but their white rice is cooked in coconut milk and it's so yummy!
We also ordered the shepherd's egg rolls, an appetizer filled with lamb, potatoes, veggies, and served with a hot, spicy mustard sauce. It was so different and so good! The atmosphere was super laid back and pleasantly quiet. I would suggest this as a great option for a cozy date night!

Food Fun for the Day

We all should be very thankful for the wonderful things Julia Child brought to this world. She will always be loved, and never forgotten.
Just a little inspiration for all you "foodies" out there :) Have a delectable day!

Burger Bliss

Are you craving the all American burger, fries, and shake? Well, then have I got a treat for you! Grill Marks, located right across from the georgeous Westin Poinsett, is a fun and energetic American burger joint. Uniquely laid out with indoor and outdoor dining options, this is a great place to hang out, catch a football game, and enjoy a delicious burger.
Grill Marks unique dining experience and attention to detail is what sets them apart from the rest. When you walk up to their entrance, everything is open and they have a bar top table at the very front, to dine as well as people watch. Once technically inside, there are tables and booths as well as the option to sit at the bar.
There are so many burger options. You can choose from the menu or build your own. I had the stuffed black and bleu burger, filled with bleu cheese and covered in spicy blackening seasoning tomato jam. It was delectable! I also had their famous white truffle parmesean fries, served with a kind of sauce I can only describe as superbly satisfying (oh yea! that sauce means business).

They are also hugely popular for their $5 Milkshakes, Shaketails (alchoholic shakes), and Floats. A certain shake called the "Firecracker" (chocolate, cayenne pepper, and pop rocks) is definitely on my list for next time.
On a side note, the burgers is not only delicious, but also adorably branded with the Grill Marks signature logo. The kids menu features the cutest mini slider burgers (also branded) and one's very own Grill Marks frisbee. Too cute!
The atmosphere is so fun and outgoing, and the servers are great and super friendly.
Be sure to check it out and let me know your thoughts!

Mediterranean Masterpiece

If you are interested in authentic Mediterranean and Italian dishes, this is the place for you. Trio's wide variety of pastas. woodfired pizzas, and other mouth watering entrees will make you feel as though you are dining in the villages of Tuscany.

I've got to admit that any combination of bread and pasta (really carbs in general) has me sold. But, Trio took me to a whole other slice of heaven. Before I get to the entrees, I have to mention the bread that comes before. This was not your average basket of rolls. We were served a warm, freshly baked loaf of bread covered in shredded cheese and smothered in olive oil. Then for the entree, I ordered the portabello pizza and my dinner companion had the spicy shrimp and scallops pasta. I, of course, sampled both. The pasta was delicious, but the pizza was amazing. Covered in olive oil, spinach, portabello mushrooms, diced tomatoes, feta, and parmesean, the pizza made me feel like I was in a cafe in Venice. Combine this with the wonderful service and warm rustic atmosphere, and Trio is definitely a "Mediterranean Masterpiece."
